VisiLED
VisiLED was founded by my father and I in 2003 for the purpose of creating LED-based medical lighting products. Our first product was the Halo Surgical Headlight—the world's first LED surgical headlight. The development of this product was challenging, as we had to balance the need for light output with the comfort and weight of a headlight. I worked with a team of engineers as we moved from prototype to production. As an architect I have CAD experience, but this was my first opportunity to see a design quickly realized with rapid prototyping technology.
For the introduction of our product, I designed a tradeshow booth for the American College of Surgeons Clinical Congress in Chicago. The booth had to be designed to be setup and taken down quickly, and I had to order most of the components without seeing them first in person. In order to communicate the design to my father and the salespeople, I photoshopped a simple but effective axonometric rendering. My other duties at VisiLED included the creating of marketing materials, the design of the website and management of IT infrastructure. Visit the VisiLED website for more information.
